Not only for meat, my vegan daughter uses hers for making sourdough toast.
This was bought for my hubby who loves cooking steaks - it is an excellent buy - just enough weight to hold down the steak without releasing all the juices
Good weight to the meat press but the handle is not situated in the cutout recess correctly, therefore the handle is not going to stay attached but my husband assures me he will be able to replace the handle, if/when it comes loose.
This is great weight is just right for keeping bacon flat on griddle and the same with steaks definitely ideal and must have for barbecue and griddle
